How it works?
At Optimeleon, data privacy is of utmost importance, and we take it very seriously. We also recognize that tracking data is essential to make the most out of the UI data points collected on your website. To balance these needs, we've developed a two-step approach to ensure full GDPR compliance while optimizing your site's performance.
What Does the Script Do?
To provide the easiest integration possible, our base script handles several key functions on your website:
Variant Selection
Selects variants based on a function of: f(Campaign URL, UserData, OptimizationDataCollected, AIPredictionData , …)
This ensures that each user sees the most relevant content, enhancing their experience and increasing engagement.
User Behavior Tracking
Tracks user behavior and sends it to our AI model for future optimization.
Helps in continuously improving your website by learning from user interactions.
Anti Flicker
Optimeleon runs some code on your web page that modifies the page (DOM for the tech folks). To fully update your page, Optimeleon needs to let the page load first and then update your existing content. We recommend clients to include our anti-flicker script. Its purpose is to prevent a Flicker or Flash Effect, where a user briefly sees the original page before the test version loads and replaces it. The script works by hiding the entire page content until the test variation is ready to be displayed. The content replacing takes less than a few seconds to finish its job and is virtually unnoticeable to your visitors.
Our Content Delivery Network (CDN) ensures that the scripts load quickly, providing you with the fastest loading times possible.
Note: Adding our anti flicker script is optional but highly recommended.
Cookies
The base version of our script works out of the box without cookies. That said, we highly recommend providing Optimeleon consent. When Optimeleon can use cookies, we can properly associate a visitor to a session on your domain (including sub-domains) which ensures that the visitor is not tracked multiple times. Optimeleon's cookie consent can be provided by calling the appropriate scripts as described in the integrating script guide. When you provide Optimeleon consent to use cookies, Optimeleon will only use first party cookies.
Note: In certain cases like tracking across sub domain or when your conversion event is on shopify pages (like checkout), cookies are required to ensure proper functioning.

Our base version operates fully cookieless. It uses the data provided in real-time, pairs it with our prediction model and campaign optimization data to select the best variant for each user. This method allows us to instantly load the page and avoid flickering, enhancing user experience without compromising privacy.
For more comprehensive insights and advanced cases like cross domain tracking or shopify carts, we offer a version of the script that activates first-party cookies to track users across your site. This maximizes the utility of UI data points for further optimization. This part of the script should be integrated only after obtaining user consent to ensure GDPR compliance.
