Variant Studio
The browser extension is the editor. It scans your live page, and it is where you review what Leo built, or build a version yourself, directly on the real site.
Variant Studio is Optimeleon's Chrome extension, and it is the editing surface for the whole product. It does two jobs: it scans your pages, and it is where variants are reviewed and edited, on your actual live site rather than in a simulation of it.
Install it
- Install Optimeleon Variant Studio from the Chrome Web Store. It works in Chrome and other Chromium browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc).
- Sign in to Optimeleon in the same browser, and the extension picks up your session.
- Open a page in the app and press a scan or a review. The extension takes over from there.
The app tells you if your installed version is behind and links you to the update. Keep it current: the editor and the app talk to each other, and an old extension is the most common cause of “the button does nothing”.
What it does
Scanning a page
When you start a scan, the extension reads the page you are on: its structure, a limited set of computed styles, element positions and sizes, full-page screenshots, plus the URL, title and language. That capture is what every later understanding and every generated variant is built from.
Reviewing a variant
Pressing Review in the app opens a new tab on your live page with the variant applied and the editor attached. You see the real thing, with real fonts, real images and real responsive behavior, and you can change anything you do not like before publishing.
Building one yourself
You do not have to start from a generated concept. Select an element on the live page, edit its content, styling or structure, and save. A variant authored this way appears on the board labelled “Built by you”. Optimeleon only labels the exception, so a card with no such label came from a build.
Privacy: what it reads and what it never touches
The extension reads a page only when you, signed in, explicitly start a scan or open the editor on it. It does not run in the background on your browsing.

Captured page data is stored in the European Union and used solely to analyze your page and to generate, preview and publish the variants you asked for. The full disclosure is in the privacy policy.
If the extension is unavailable
On a locked-down enterprise browser where extensions cannot be installed, Optimeleon falls back to a hosted browser session streamed into the app, with the same editing UI. It is slower than the extension, and it is used only when it has to be.
